I recently asked the good folks at KT Tape for a sample of their therapeutic tape.   I wanted to test out taping over spots on my feet to prevent blisters while running sockless.    Skipping socks saves a few seconds in transition – but in Olympic distance races, I get terrible blisters on my feet.   I haven’t yet tested out that idea…however, I was very glad to have the KT Tape today!

I have had some terrible neck pain since last weekend – when I rode my bike almost all the way to Greensboro.  I put in 5:45 total saddle time, and the last hour of that bike ride was very painful. Feet, butt and neck hurt.  Alot.

And all week my neck really bothered me.   So much so that I was dreading today’s long bike ride.    Then I remembered the KT Tape.   I looked at the instructions and – sure enough – there was a taping diagram for Neck Pain.    I thought, what the hell, I will try this stuff out.   As soon as I put the tape on my neck, I felt immediate relief.  OMG, I couldn’t believe it.   It felt like the tape was doing some of the work for my neck muscles, so they could rest and recover.

I got through today’s 4 hour ride with minimal pain.   I will definitely be using KT Tape again!

Here is a picture of the taping job.  Since it was 7am, and everybody else in my family was still asleep, I had to apply the tape by  myself.  It was really hard getting the vertical “Y” strip in place.  But the cross “I” strip was easy.   That’s the piece that really felt good!
