Both ChiRunnig and Pose Method of Running talk about how running barefoot forces you to land properly on your feet…landing midfoot instead of on your heel. I have been starting each track workout by running barefoot for 400m. The track I run on is a soft rubberized surface – if you don’t have a soft track available, then do this on a grassy field.

Today, the surface of the track was hot, so it turned out to be a great drill to help me pick up my feet fast. I didn’t realize just how hot it was until near the end of the 400m. When I was done, I poured some of my ice water on my feet. My feet are actually a little burned now. Great workout!
