I went swimming today at Jordan lake with my swim buddy Norman.? ? We were talking about the need for one rest day each week, where you don’t do any training at all.? ? Last year I started out following a plan that only had a day of rest every three weeks, and I found myself exhausted after two weeks and unable to get through a workout.? That’s when I realized how important that one day of rest is.

It dawned on me that I hadn’t had a rest day in a while.? When I got home, I looked at my training plan, and it doesn’t have any rest days at all.? ? It has easy days and rest weeks, but not one day of rest each week.

Today I am skipping the 20 mile bike ride because I’ve really worked hard this week and am feeling the need for a day of rest.? The rest of the plan I will re-arrange or skip workouts to make sure I get that day off.
