I love hearing from people who read my blog (hint, hint). There is a woman named Lisa who is training for her first triathlon, and she sometimes emails me about her progress. (Go LISA!). In her last email, she wrote that her goal of doing a triathlon was both exciting and scarey. That reminded me of a book I read that says your goals should be both exciting and scarey. If a goal is just exciting, than it’s probably too easy. If a goal is just scarey, than it’s probably too hard.

My goal of completing White Lake in 1:30 was both scarey and exciting. It was a great feeling to acheive that goal. In the back of my mind was a hope that I could get good enough this season to make it into the NCTS end of year championship invitational race. Now that I’ve seen my points so far in the NCTS, I think I can do it if I do 5 races. That goal is both exciting and scarey.

So, I’ve signed up for Kure Beach, Triangle, and Pinehurst. That’s four races (White Lake included). After Kure Beach and Triangle, I’ll check my standings and will do JF Hurley and/or Wilmington if I need the points. Or, possibly try to get into Lake Norman on the waiting list.
