Hey, hang in there .... you don't realize the inspiration your giving folks. While you haven't gotten me to do any ironman competitions yet, I found your blog about a week ago looking for a calorie counter based on heart rate. I've been using your since then and checking your blog every morning. I'm just doing elliptical work for about an hour two days a week and doing ellitical and gym work three days a week. Maybe an ironman someday but this morning your helping me get out of this chair, put on my running shoes and this heart rate monitor and go get on that darn Nordictrack Elliptical .... in fact I'm gonna do it RIGHT NOW ..... Everybody deserves a break. Mines gonna be Sunday as I am doing my 2nd 5K Saturday (Race for the Cure).

You sound a lot like me during IM training when things got rough. I also would cry occasionally because I started to hate triathlon. Those feelings just meant that I needed time off to let my psychological state reset. A common phrase for IM taper is "When in doubt, leave it out". I definitely think you need to throw away your training plan, pronto! I would actually recommend you consider doing NO TRAINING at all until the race. I am being totally serious! Maybe just as easy 20 minutes or say a couple days before the race. I am a big believer in being mentally rested for IM. Call me if you ever want to talk 919-619-2280
