I did a brick workout today and it was so sucky I don’t even want to talk to my blog about it. The only thing I’ll say is this: Don’t get your bike tuned up 10 days before a major race.

Next day update 9/9/2007: What happened was my my bike handling skills were finely tuned to my slightly out of whack bike. So, I had a lot of problems shifting after the tune-up; and the chain rubbed in my favorite gear combo.? I stopped several times during the ride to try and tweak the front de-railer, but just ended up making things worse.

Last night my husband helped me adjust the front derailer back to what it was before the tune-up. I went on a ride this morning and it went great. Phew – disaster averted!

Other sucky things from yesterday:

  • I ate pizza the night before. I didn’t even pig out – just two very normal size slices. It still made me feel bloated and sluggish for my workout the next morning.? No more pizza for me!
  • I’ve been fighting a cold and have had sinus congestion for a week. Now I fear that it’s in my lungs and I struggled with breathing the whole workout. I hope that clears up by race day šŸ™
