I am going to do short little blogs about my experience with P90X workouts.   I will give these posts a blog title beginning with “P90X”…that way if you aren’t interested in that topic, you can just skip those posts.   I don’t want to bore anybody!

I got up early today and did the ” Chest and Back” workout Disk 1.   I pretty much failed miserably at it, because it is mostly pushups and pullups and chinups.  I was trying to do them the manly way, yet could only do 1 or 2 each set.  So I spent a ton of time waiting around for  Tony Horton and his pals to finish doing 30 pushups!    It wasn’t until the very end of the workout that I finally accepted that I had to do the pushups the wussy way – on my knees.    Then it started to actually be a really good workout because I was doing it the right way for me!   I wanted to go back and do another set, but I had to go get ready for work.   That is the life of a working girl.

Other notes:

I had no idea there were so many different ways of doing pushups.  Regular, military, cross, decline!   I can see it will be great for hitting the muscles in different ways.   Next time I will do them all the wussy way and work up to the manly way.

I had some issues with my chin up bar.  It’s all the way in the laundry room so I was running back and forth.  Also, the location doesn’t lend itself to using a chair underneath to make the pullups more doable.    Eventually I found an old resistance band and tied it to a doorknob and did that in place of the pull ups.  That was better, but it was too easy so I need more straps with different resistance.

I liked Tony and the music and the verbal cues he shouted out.   He was very motivating. If you like DVD workouts in general, you will like this.

There were  a couple of dumbell sets in this workout.  One was called “Heavy Pants” and another called “Lawnmower”.    Those were fun – I like the dumbell stuff.   Haha, maybe because I am one.

I didn’t like that he took time to record the weight and reps after each part of the workout.  I wasn’t doing that, and had to wait around!  And I was already waiting around alot!

It will take some organizing and experimenting on my part to get it right so the workout goes smooth and fast.  I will get more out of it then.
