Thanks to everybody who posted encouraging comments about my last post, Struggling with Pinehurst goals. I love getting comments on my blog (hint, hint). I have decided to come up with a secret time goal for Pinehurst, like my friend Rebecca does for her races.

secret

I’m not going to tell you what it is, tho, as it’s a secret! I’ll tell you what it WAS after the fact, in my race report! But it’s basically “x” peep.jpgminutes off my last year time, with specifics about how and where I plan on cutting out the minutes. If I make that goal and beat some of those fast chicks, great! No matter what, I plan on staying positive and having fun. Pinehurst is a fun race and a great race venue!

Secret Goals – what a good idea.

Reading your blog I have no doubt that you will achieve whatever these goals are.

Secret huh!? OK, I will now share with you what I think you can do at Pinehurst:
Swim: Break 30 minutes. Not much better than you did last year, but this is not where you should push for time savings.
T1: Break 2 minutes. Anyone who can get out of a wetsuit and mounted on a bike in under two minutes deserves an award.
Bike: Break 1:12:30. You are great biker and now with you superior new Tri-bike, I think you will have a great fast ride. 1:12:30 maybe too aggressive, but this is where the best time savings can be had. I also think you will come into T2 better rested than last year.
    T2: Break 1:30.
Run: OK here it is–your biggest challenge. You have trained for it all year. The temperature will play an important role here. If you haven’t pushed too hard on the swim and bike, you will have the energy left to break…

    59 minutes.

Total goal: 2:46 Maybe that’s too aggressive, but your training indicates different.

Have a great race and no matter what happens, push through and stay positive.

    Bob
