I am tapering for my upcoming race, so did just a short E2 brick (that means staying in endurance zone 2, which is an easy pace). I felt really strong on the bike today – rested legs make a big difference. There’s this long stretch of winding hilly road on my bike route that usually feels hard. Today it felt easy, and each time I looked down at my cateye computer, I was going my usual moderate pace. I found it difficult to hold back because I wanted to go harder, but I resisted so that my legs would still be fresh on race day. It was great to feel such power on the bike, and the thought entered my mind that perhaps I am strong and fast on the bike simply because I think I am.
I am going to start thinking I am strong and fast in swimming and running, too

You are reading Triathlon Training Blog: my journey from couch potato to triathlete! Are you thinking you'd like to get started in the sport of triathlon, but you don't think you are lean enough, or fast enough, or athletic enough?
What bike did you start using to train? I want to do a tri but I’m unsure about the equipment. I don’t want to splurge on a 1000 bike for my first tri. What do you suggest?
