So far, I am signed up for two triathlons:
I chose Lake Logan because I wanted to do a triathlon in the mountains during the summer, so my family can have an excuse to do a weekend mountain trip. Lake Logan sounded like a nice race venue, too.
I am doing Lake Norman for fun with my friend, Cathy. It will be her first open water race.
I will do Pinehurst too, since I really loved that race.
Goal #1:
I plan on doing Duke Half this year. That will be my key race, and my goal will be to finish it in under 6 hours. (45 minutes for the swim, 3 hours for the bike, and 2 hours for the run).
Goal #2:
My other goal is to place in the top 3 of my age group at a race this year. To acheive that goal, I’ve been trying to improve my running cadence in hopes of running faster. Every race, three or four women in my age group pass me on the run, and I end up coming in fifth place! I haven’t figured out which race to shoot for this goal on.
Not sure what other races to do yet. I’d like something sooner than August! I prefer races that are close to home to avoid travelling. I might do Kerr Lake on 6/3 …but I will wait until the date is closer to see how busy I am that weekend, with it being the end of school.
