2009 Race Schedule

I officially registered for all my races this season, because the Trakkers team wanted my schedule.

Races for 2009

· Riverwood Sprint, 4/25
· Rev3Tri Half Iron, Jun 7 ‘A’
· Triangle Sprint, Jul 12
· Bandits Challenge OLY, Aug 8
· Duke 1/2, Sept 27
· B2B Full Iron, Nov 7 ‘A’

I am doing Riverwood, because that was my very first race ever (2005), and I was dead last in my age group. I still felt like a winner tho! I always said after I make the podium in a tri, I would go back and re-do that race to see just how far I have come. And I have come a long way… here’s my race report from that day. It’s a funny read…i actually took a potty break (in a sprint race?); i stopped to fix my hair during the run; and i chose not to sprint past another woman at the finish because I didn’t want to make her feel bad – WTF?!

OMG -I just found out that Natascha Badmann is going to be at the Rev3tri race. She is another one of my tri heros! I watched her sit in the penalty box at Kona (06?) with a huge smile on her face, start out 18 minutes behind in the run, and WIN! Made me wonder if that six minute rest was good for her! Cait Snow is also going to be racing that day. She became my running hero when she pulled ahead in the run at Lake Placid with her fast robot-like running style. I think of her often when I am running and try to mimic her style. I hope I get to meet them!

  • I wish that I could do more races like you, but I could only do a few because of my ridiculous school schedule... AGH!!!

  • Very nice schedule and being selected by trakkers. I hope to see you at Riverwood--also my first tri in 2007. Very slowly working back to race condition. Not sure how slow I'll be, but I comitted to compete. Keep up the good work and stay healthy.

  • It's really kinda fascinating to read that old race report, and see how far you've come in such a short time. Yours is the first blog I had ever read (maybe a year or 2 ago), and it inspired me in so many ways. I look at what I've done since then (really gotten into running, a few little tris and 2 half marathons), look how far you've come, and am pleasantly irritated to imagine that I, too, might be able to improve that much. Thanks for your great blog!

  • Awesome. I'm signed up for Riverwood this year, too. (Aiming for the podium -- cross your fingers.) Maybe we'll get to meet.

  • I enjoy reading your clips. Simple, short to the point and informative. I joined our local triathlon club to inspire me with the emails and discounts however I am still not way ready for a triathlon. I trying to find ways to convince myself on being addicted to tri training. My 2nd of 4 children, Carrie age 9, is excited to do triathlons - the only sport she is very confident in. However, I need to stay focused on raising four kids with morals.

Someday I will do a triathlon ... when I am ready mentally and physically. In the meantime I will enjoy watching my daughter in tri's and get all the details on equipment, hone my Total Immersion swim DVD and find out about the organized tri's in our area.

    Thanks much,
    Jeannie, age 38

  • Wow! My first triathlon was Riverwood in 2004! I love that little race. I had to stand up after halfway through the swim because I was hyperventilating. :) I am doing Triangle, maybe Bandit's and Duke 1/2. Hope we get to meet sometime.

  • That race report was funny. I actually thought the kleenex comment was funny. I also saw that you are giving Duke another go around this year. Good luck this season. Can't wait to read all about it.
