Mental Toughness

I’ve been frustrated lately by my lack of progress in cycling and swimming. I’m getting alot faster in running, but not making much progress in the other two sports.

A friend of mine wrote an email to me and said “BTW, my experience is that any pace you can hold for 500 [meter swim], you can hold indefinitely (it just hurts more…).”

This got me thinking that I can keep pushing myself past pain and fatigue in running, but not in cycling and swimming. This ability to push past pain is called Mental Toughness (I think). Maybe I have it in running because I’ve simply been running longer. I need to get there in my cycling and swimming. Something to work on!
