I’ve created an excel spreadsheet to track my nutrition and hydration during workouts versus weight change and how I felt.

The reason I tracked this for a while was that I was afraid I was drinking too much, so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t gaining weight during my workouts. Drinking too much during workouts can lead to hyponatremia (overhydration and a diluting of blood-sodium levels). Here’s a good article on hydration during exercise: http://tinyurl.com/nf28l

Basically, I need alot of water, and the amount varies greatly depending on temp and humidity. In all cases, I just drank according to my thirst. I think I’m doing just fine by trusting my thirst.

How Feel? felt good during workout but a little thirsty… Added 1/4 tsp salt to water to mimic sodium content of gatorade. Blech – it just wasn’t thirst quenching.
